1991 honda prelude not starting?

i own a 1991 honda prelude and the o ring went out in the distr. well i took the distr. out....cleaned it...and replaced the o ring.....installed it back into my car and now it will not start at all... it tried then it just cranks....so i replaced the distr. thinking the pick up coil went out....well did the same thing... tried to start then nothen.....i checked the timming and its fine....i replaced all plugs and wires and still nothen but the same....if u let it set for a while itll try to start then just cranks and cranks....what happened here...what can be cuasen this.....???? i tried usen starting fluid and still nothen....i tried holden it flat to the floor and it still does nothen......no back fire no nothen.....well b 4 i did any thing to the car it ran fine....but.....after a while it can b 5 mins or 5 hours some times.....the check engine light would come on and it would be really harsh letting off the gas...then when u gave it gas it would jump rpm's.....i could hold it at 2000 rpms and it would loop back down then up until u got to like 3500 rpms then would stop...... then sometimes it would act like water in the gas....so what happened here all i did was mess with the distr..and now it wont start at all..HELP PLEASE.......
